1. Comparing ABLIC's Wireless Power Transfer and Qi Standard

Qi: The International Standard for Wireless Power Charging

Are you familiar with the Qi wireless power charging standard, commonly used in smartphones and other devices? Let's explore the differences between the Qi standard and ABLIC's wireless power transfer solution.

Wireless charging for smartphones

Qi is a wireless power charging system standardized by the Wireless Power Consortium (WPC).
It offers a power transmission capacity ranging from 5 to 15 watts. Mutual authentication is achieved by incorporating a microcontroller in the control ICs on both the transmitter and receiver. This allows power transmission between transmitters and receivers from different manufacturers as long as the products are certified to the Qi standard.

ABLIC’s Wireless Power Transfer (Transmission and Reception / Charging)

ABLIC's wireless power transfer employs proprietary analog semiconductor technology to establish a straightforward wireless power transfer environment with a power transmission capability of approximately 0.5 watts. Mutual verification is achieved through a proprietary circuit integrated into the control ICs on the transmitter and receiver.
Power transmission can occur between the transmitter and receiver by incorporating ABLIC's wireless power control ICs.

Selecting the Appropriate Solution for Your Application

While Qi-based wireless power charging may be excessive for low-power applications, ABLIC's wireless power transfer is an ideal choice for those applications that have abandoned wireless power transfer due to increased costs and the inflated size of products that incorporate it.

*Please be advised that compliance certification, including adherence to regional radio wave regulations, may be necessary depending on the country or region in which the product is marketed.

2. Commonalities Between ABLIC's Wireless Power Transfer and Qi

While there are distinctions between ABLIC's wireless power transfer and the Qi, they also share certain similarities.

Both ABLIC's wireless power transfer and Qi employ magnetic coupling within the electromagnetic induction method. Furthermore, since the frequency of wireless power transfer is 205kHz or lower and the transmission power is minimal, both ABLIC's wireless power transfer and Qi can be utilized in numerous countries without the need for specific applications related to radio regulations.
