After graduating from university, he led projects in Japan and abroad for eight years in the Plant Engineering Division of Sumitomo Heavy Industries, Ltd.
Later, after building his career as the person responsible for the marketing and sales departments at Bayer and General Electric, he held successive positions as president of several major foreign-affiliated companies.
In 2016, he took the position of representative director and president of ABLIC’s predecessor, SII Semiconductor Corporation.
In 2018, after a new start was made with the new company name, ABLIC Inc., as the representative director, president, and CEO, he led a variety of corporate reforms such as value selling activities and personnel system reform, and made major accomplishments in broad improvements to operating margins and boosting employee job satisfaction.
He took up his current position in June 2023 where he remains today.
Out of my 45 years as a company employee, ten-plus years have been spent in Japanese companies and over 30 years have been at foreign-affiliated companies.
The strengths of Japanese companies are 1. pursuit of high quality, 2. strong teamwork, and 3. a long history of highly skilled individuals. On the other hand, the strengths of foreign-affiliated companies are 1. rationality, 2. speed, and 3. specific techniques.
If the rationality and speed of foreign-affiliated companies could be combined with these Japanese company strengths and put into practice, the company could produce even greater job satisfaction. This is the approach I’ve embraced at ABLIC and the companies I was involved in before.
However, employees are the only ones capable of changing a company. A crucial key to enabling such reform to be cheerfully tackled is whether their motivation can be increased to elicit a sense of satisfaction.
In order for ABLIC to continue growth and development five or ten years down the road, we’ll work to improve our corporate brand and become a global role model powered by people to promote leadership energized by performance, change agents, and influencers. At the same time, as a manufacturer specializing in analog semiconductors, ABLIC will strive to contribute to our stakeholders and a sustainable society through our products, services, and solutions.
On my days off, I enjoy mountain climbing and hiking, and spending time getting in touch with the plants that appear in each of the four seasons.
